Brazilian Psychiatric Association consensus for the management of psychiatric emergencies in pregnancy and postpartum period

Introduction: Emergencies in the pregnancy and postpartum are less frequent than other groups, but not uncommon. However, literature on subject is scarce controversial. Objective: The objective of this article to present some recommendations for management most common psychiatric emergencies that may occur or period. Method: These procedures were focused discussion integration findings from peer-reviewed published research topic. We searched electronic database PubMed. Relevant abstracts identified using following search terms: Psychotropics medications at breastfeeding: (((psychotropic medications) AND (pregnancy)) OR (psychotropic medications)) (breastfeeding) - Psychiatric emergencies: (((((((psychiatric emergencies) (psychiatric emergencies)) (postpartum)) (peripartum)) (breastfeeding). Inclusion criteria included papers (or press) about breastfeeding December 2000 January 2021 agitation emergencies. Main Results: recommendation pharmacological treatment, psychomotor agitation, suicide behavior, psychotic disorders mania, severe depression, substance use disorders.
